What Are Commercial Mailboxes?
Commercial mailboxes are centralized, multi-tenant mailbox systems built for high-volume or multi-unit mail delivery. Unlike residential curbside boxes, commercial units are designed to serve multiple tenants at once, making them the preferred option for businesses, apartment complexes, HOAs and institutions. By consolidating delivery into a single secure location, commercial mailboxes save time for postal carriers, improve tenant convenience and enhance overall mail security.
Most commercial mailboxes fall into two categories:

USPS-approvedmailboxes
Must meet strict size, security and accessibility regulations for official postal delivery.

Private-usemailboxes
Designed for centralized distribution within offices, schools or corporate facilities.

Learn MoreUSPS Regulations for Commercial Mailboxes
All commercial mailbox installations must comply with USPS STD-4C or F-Series standards for new construction and major renovations. Older styles, such as 4B+ horizontal and vertical mailboxes, are permitted only in replacement projects.
US Mail Supply helps property managers, contractors and developers navigate USPS mailbox requirements for smooth approval and long-term reliability.
Important: As of October 5, 2006, the USPS requires all new centralized mail delivery systems to use STD-4C-compliant mailboxes or F-Series outdoor cluster box units. USPS standards define minimum compartment sizes, parcel locker requirements, tenant identification and accessibility compliance.
ADA Accessibility
Tenant locks must be no higher than 67 inches, while bottom compartments cannot be lower than 28 inches above the finished floor. Parcel lockers must be at least 15 inches from the floor, and the USPS Arrow lock must be installed between 36–48 inches.
Parcel Locker Ratio
USPS requires a minimum of one parcel locker for every five mailbox compartments.
Postmaster Approval
Every mailbox project should be reviewed and approved by your local Postmaster before installation.
