4C horizontal mailboxes

4C horizontal mailboxes, (apartment mailboxes or post office boxes), are a new style of horizontal mailbox manufactured strictly to new U.S. Postal Service STD-4C specifications. Our new 4C horizontal mailboxes are called the "Foursite" series. All mailbox projects for new construction and major renovations where the building permit was applied for after October 5, 2005 require U.S. Postal Service STD-4C compliant mailbox systems.

Unlike the older style apartment mailboxes or post office boxes, the new U.S. Postal Service STD-4C Standard includes many new specifications, such as a compartment minimum size requirement of 12" wide x 15" deep x 3" high; elimination of the vertical mailbox design (5" wide x 6" deep x 15" high); introduces parcel locker requirements based on 1:10 parcel locker to tenant ratio; strengthens security requirements for the entire receptacle; standardizes and improves tenant compartment lock design; adds testing requirements to verify acceptability for either indoor or outdoor use; Foursite 4C horizontal mailboxes meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Foursite Series 4C horizontal mailboxes are constructed of heavy gauge aluminum and 300 series stainless steel components for superior strength, corrosion resistance and exceptional outdoor durability. The Foursite 4C horizontal mailboxes come with a rugged, corrosion resistant weatherproof powdercoat finish that resists scratching and vandalism. Availble in the following finishes: blonde gold, bright gold, silver speck, postal gray, black, dark bronze, white, forest green and sandstone.

Foursite 4C horizontal mailboxes also feature master loading doors designed with interlocking overlap seams to prevent prying; quick release master loading door lock latch for easy access by Postal carriers; solid aluminum mail slot frame similar to High Security CBU design protects adjacent customer compartment and collection compartment; unique double-locking parcel locking mechanism design for added mail package security; new USPS-1172 910A lock with 3 keys; number decals up to three digits or engraved door identification up to 6 characters; multi-unit connector kit hardware included with all Foursite 4C horizontal mailboxes for convenience and easy installation.

Going forward, existing vertical and 4B+ horizontal mailboxes, also known as apartment mailboxes or post office boxes, will be USPS Approved FOR REPLACEMENT PURPOSES ONLY. They will no longer be USPS Approved for New Construction or Major Renovation projects. A “major renovation” would occur anytime the condition of the wall would be modified where the existing wall-mounted mailboxes are installed presently. If the cavity of the wall is altered where the mailboxes can’t be reinstalled on a one-for-one basis, the renovation would be considered “major” and mailboxes complying with the new USPS 4C regulation should be installed. If you have any questions about what mailbox Standard will be applied to a specific project requiring USPS Approved mailboxes, please contact the local Postmaster for guidance prior to purchasing any wall-mounted mailbox systems.

Foursite 4C horizontal mailboxes cannot currently be modified, however there are a wide array of module sizes and configurations in our 5 Foursite suites. Our friendly and knowledgable customer service staff will be happy to assist you in designing a Foursite 4C horizontal mailbox solution today!

It is important to understand that the Fousite 4C horizontal mailboxes must be recessed into the wall and require a minimum of 17" in wall depth. These units are available in both postal and private access, and can also be configured to be loaded from the front or the rear.

All Foursite 4C horizontal mailboxes shall be designed such that they are in compliance with the following:
